The
Benefits of Geothermal Systems.
Geo-Friendly, Efficiency!, Durability, Cost Savings.
Geothermal systems are one
of the most efficient systems available for
heating and cooling.
For every unit of electricity used to heat or
cool your building, the geothermal heat pump
unit produces 3-4.5btu's.
That is an efficiency
of 300-450%.
Compare that to a 92% high efficiency furnace or
a 60-80% efficiency boiler,
The relatively constant temperature of the
ground and the efficiency of the equipment mean
that the geothermal heat pump units don’t have
to work as hard, and are therefore more
efficient than other systems.
Overall savings over a traditional system can be
as great as 60-70%.
The savings of a Geothermal system result in
payback in as little as 3-8 years.
Low Operating and
Maintenance Costs
Geothermal systems have one of the lowest relative operating and maintenance costs of any HVAC system available. Annual operating costs are lower and equipment life span is longer than conventional systems. Maintaining a Geothermal system is simple and does not require any more attention than a traditional system.
Environmentally friendly
Geothermal systems rely on the heating and cooling properties of the earth rather than fossil fuels. Not only are carbon dioxide emissions reduced, but air quality is improved because a Geothermal system does not emit carbon dioxide.
Long equipment life
Since there is no combustion or toxic fumes generated, Geothermal equipment has a longer lifespan that traditional systems. The Loop field of a Geothermal system has a life expectancy of 50 to 75 years.
Quiet and out of site
A Geothermal system does not have any exterior components that are exposed to the weather. Having all components inside reduces potential damage, vandalism, and improves aesthetics of the building. Since there are no outside components there is also less noise generated.
Domestic water and pools
A Geothermal system can use a device called a desuper heater to supplement the buildings hot water generation. In the summer months, the heat extracted from your building is used to supplement hot water generation providing almost "free" hot water. A similar system can be used as supplemental heat for a pool.
